Three Days to Story: A Weekend-Long Workshop

Upcoming Dates: September 16 – 18

In this three-day workshop, we’ll be going over the fundamentals of telling a great story – be that a novel, a screenplay, a short story, etc.

On Day One (Friday, 6 PM – 8 PM), we’ll spend time:

– Getting to know each other

– & warming up our creative brains

On Day Two (Saturday, 1 PM – 5 PM) we’ll go over:

– Plot

– Character

– and Dialogue

On Day Three (Sunday, 1 PM – 5 PM), we’ll cover:

– Setting / Description

– Voice / Narrator

– and Writing Style

Each day will be filled with lessons on each element of storytelling, but also lots of writing, planning your story, interactive games, and connection.

It will be a weekend full of creativity, connectivity, and most of all – getting your novel or story into shape to write!

I recommend coming to this workshop with something already in mind. It could be a well-formed idea or just a loose string of thoughts you’ve been mulling over for a story. We’ll help you get it into shape!

Creative Writing Weekly Group (10-week group, online via Zoom)

Upcoming Dates: Thursday nights, 7 – 9:30 PM CST, June 23 – August 25

OVERVIEW:
This is writing group for those who have already taken the above Intro to Fiction course, or have equivalent experience. In this group, things will be less structured. There will still be plenty of writing exercises and tools provided; but the first five classes will not be spent in lessons. You’ll already have those under your belt. Instead, much more time will be spent writing, supporting each other’s process, and in the end, workshopping the stories you’ve come up with (optional.) Additionally, the focus of this group is more flexible – you can choose to work on a new short story, revise your previous short story from the class, begin working on a novel, an essay, articles, etc. Overall, this is a group of writers, supporting each other in their writing.

Price: $400 with some scholarship pricing available. There is no online registration for this group, as it is limited only to previous students or those with equivalent experience.

Fiction Writing: One-on-One Coaching

OVERVIEW:
For those who would prefer one-on-one attention rather than a class or group dynamic, here we have one-on-one coaching. This is a great option for those who are unavailable for a once a week class, have an irregular schedule, or are craving guidance on something in particular when it comes to writing.

This is a very flexible option: meetings can happen once only, once per week, once per month… If you’re looking for an experience writing coach to help guide you in your process, let’s chat.
