Nothing

do you ever miss it
the way
once
we were nothing

peculiarly amorphous
everything
or
so it seems to me

slammed heavily
into
the earth of our muscle
swimming in our own
blood
we bleed
thoughts
breathe
shoulds
and breed loss

so scared are we
of returning to dust
losing everything
we know
we must tell

our
selves
will never crumble

we must
humble ourselves
at the altar of our aging skin
thinner
closer to the
beginning
ending
up
that peculiarly amorphous
everything

or so it seems
to me
